Thai Yoga massage is a traditional healing art which has been practised in Thailand for centuries …. it is based on Auyverdic medicine and yoga, this art form has been handed down through an unbroken chain of masters for centuries and is practised today across Thailand. Thai Yoga massage is becoming increasingly popular in the West.
Thai Yoga massage is different from many western forms of massage. It is also so different from what we typically mean by massage because no oils or lotions are applied; the therapist uses a mattress on the floor and; the client remains fully clothed throughout the session (loose comfortable clothing – perhaps what you would wear to a yoga class).
Thai Yoga massage is the perfect compliment to any exercise routine and is suitable for clients of all ages, sizes and abilities as we carefully choose stretches and methods to suit each individual client.
The classic Thai Yoga massage routine can be varied to suit a wide range of physical needs and can be used as a form of physiotherapy to increase range of motion and muscular strength.
Thai Yoga massage is directly related to Auyverdic principles originating in India. Just like other massage techniques such as shiatsu and reflexology, Auyverdic bodywork is a form of therapy based on the theory of the flow of energy between specific points of the body. Thus even when treating the disease or injury associated with the particular part of the body your therapist would typically work on some of the 72,000 acupressure points in the body, promoting the natural healing process.
