CRISIS provide important respite for those that need it most over the Christmas period. Carole Barnes took time away from her family this Christmas and volunteered for the Christmas period by massaging the homeless and rough sleepers in London for the 2nd year running. With her expert massage skills and empathy she teamed up with other Healthcare Professionals in London and went each day to a variety of outreach centres to ease aching and stressed homeless people. The guests staying at the residential centres for the Christmas week were provided with 3 hot meals a day and on Christmas day they served 5,679 meals and over 32,000 meals across the week. A variety of treatments were available including Massage, Podiatry, Eye care, Yoga, Reiki, Physiotherapy, Dentistry, Haircuts and there was even a sewing team!. They could also choose from learning IT skills, playing football and Bingo, participating in Karaoke, and craft making skills or even having some quiet time doing jigsaws. At the end of the week most guests felt renewed strength, bringing harmony and balance back. Most importantly it has given the individuals the dignity and confidence they deserve as well as making a real difference to their Christmas and year ahead.
